Home-and-Family Visiting the Best of Veracruz Veracruz is one of the cities that have retained its old world charm and although it is not top on the list of Mexico vacation destinations, it is now slowly emerging to be one. The Wonders of Mazatlan On the Gold Coast of Mexico is Mazatlan with its palm-lined stretches of beach that is worth of being included in your Mexico vacation itinerary. This place combines history and culture with adventure. In old Mazatlan, you can take a stroll in the citys second oldest plaza, Plazuela Machado and light a candle at the citys famed cathedral with its twin towers. Those who want to see or buy handcrafted furniture, ceramic and clay handicrafts are better off going on a countryside tour to the villages of Concordia, Copala and Cosala on the Sierra Madre Mountains. Include a tour of Mazatlans trademark islands, Isla de Chivos (Goat Island), Isla de Pajaros (Bird Island) and Isla de Venados (Deer Island) with fine sand beaches. Mazatlan should be an important part of your Mexico vacation for that glimpse of Mexicos passion. Dazzling Underwater World of Mexico The vibrant colored marine world of Mexico is a must-see for both experienced and beginner divers. You get different diving experiences when you dive in the Pacific Ocean on the west coast, the Caribbean Sea, the cenote or sinkhole diving and diving at the worlds second largest reef, the Great Maya Barrier Reef. The cities of Cozumel, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta provide very good diving spots too. The stunning coastline reefs as well as the renowned beautifully complex underwater panorama with cliffs, canyons and underwater flora makes Cozumel a popular dive spot. In Cancun, you get to choose between shallow color rich reefs in Playa del Carmen or go to the Chinchorro Banks which is the entry to the Great Maya Barrier Reef. Puerto Vallarta too is equally famous with islands and bays nearby and has added underwater creatures of whale sharks, dolphins, sea turtles and a host of tropical fish. There are several other diving sites in Cabo San Lucas and La Paz that will give you a beautiful tour of the underwater landscapes. Travelling to La Playa del Carmen One of the recently popular travel destinations for those who embark on Mexico vacations is La Playa del Carmen. With its close proximity to Cozumel which is just right across the channel, La Playa del Carmen shares many of the attractions in this area. The 5th Avenue of La Playa is the center of activity with shopping centers, dining places, hotels, bars and nightclubs for nighttime entertainment. Those who love to go shopping have a wide range of choices from the latest fashion to the colorful and quaint Mexican handicrafts in the area from 5th Avenue to 30th Avenue. La Playa also boasts of beaches with crystal clear waters and fine white sand. Include in La Playa tours are the sites of Mayans ancient capital, Chichen Itza, Coba which still has a real Mayan village, the tallest pyramid in Yutucan which is Nohuch Muul, the beautiful city of Tulum and ecopark Xcaret which is natures sacred paradise.
